About

I am a professional artist and art teacher in Maryland. I specialize in soft pastel portraits and landscapes, but also dabble with painting and printmaking. I obtained my art degree in Maryland, where I grew up.

I work out of my studio, Blu Mare, in my home in Maryland, although I like to imagine it's on a warm coast, bright sun, waves crashing out the window. The name Blu Mare means blue sea in Italian. The inspiration for the name comes from my ancestral homeland, Vietri Sul Mare (Vietri on the sea) which is on the coast of the Campania region in southern Italy. I am deeply inspired by this area, the beauty, and my roots there. This is where my soul lives, and creates. But really, I just create what's in my head and there's a lot in my head.

I usually study and work with vibrant colors to bring the portrait or landscape alive. I take more time planning out the composition and color pallet, than I do actually painting. I strive to create emotion in my work, memories that can never fade from existence. Creating art is a very emotional experience for me, and I love to create moments that can never be lost from our minds, playful, ordinary moments in life. Moments that bring meaning to this stressful life, in a world of busyness and hustle and bustle.

What I love most about having a studio in my home, is being able to create beside my children. There is no other greater joy, or job, in the world than being able to inspire your children to use their creative imagination, watching them create masterpieces beside you. AFTER ALL, we are all artist when we are little, we just need to find out how to stay that way...
